Mosley vs Judah: Zab Furious With Fight Offer

On Tuesday, word began to spread around the industry that Golden Boy Promotions was interested in matching WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley against former two-division champion Zab Judah. Later that night, BoxingScene.com spoke with Judah about the offer to fight Mosley, and the circumstances behind his decision to turn the offer down.
According to Judah, Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and boxing manager Shelly Finkel reached out to Zab's father, Yoel Judah, to inquire about the availability of Judah to fight Mosley. By all accounts, Mosley has a tentative return date of December 26 on HBO. As everyone knows in the sport of boxing, plans can change in a split second. Judah was not exactly sure of the proposed date but an offer of $500,000 plus 5% of the pay-per-view was presented for a fight with Mosley.
Last May, Judah was scheduled to fight Mosley on HBO pay-per-view. The fight never took place when Judah suffered a right arm injury and the entire event was canceled. After the event was canceled, Jin Mosley [Shane's wife and business manager at the time] told Judah that he would never get another shot at Mosley.
For last May's pay-per-view, Judah says an offer of $1.5 million was on the table. Never the type to hold his tongue, Judah came out swinging when I asked him about the details of the recent offer to fight Mosley.
"Richard Schaefer and Shelly Finkel called my dad. They offered $500,000 and 5% of the pay-per-view. Are they crazy? They can suck a d*ck, preferably an HIV d*ck. I don't fight HGH patients. No disrespect to Shane, I'm only going by what his ex-wife told me, the fight will never happen," Judah told BoxingScene.com
"And with those numbers, the fight will never happen. That goes to show you the market value of Mosley. They went from $1.5 to $500. I wonder what Mosley's getting. He's probably not even getting a million. I'm not a sucker, they can find somebody else."
During the conversation, it was apparent that Judah had some type of animosity directed at Finkel and I asked him where the animosity stemmed from. I'll say this much, I would have never guessed his answer.
"Finkel is a rat. One day I ran into the people from EA Sports. I was in some of the Fight Night games. They were like 'Zab, where have you been. We've been trying to reach you.' They told me that they went to Shelly Finkel and he told that he had no way to reach me. But he knows how to reach me when he needs to call for a fight for Sugar Shane Mosley," Judah. "People can always find me. They can catch me live on ustream every night. What the f*ck do I need 24/7? I have my own 24/7."
